Turn away if you’re squeamish: A UK surgeon has recorded a gruesome operation while streaming the event using Snapchat glasses.
The £100 ($130) ‘Spectacles’ have a small camera integrated into the frame, allowing the wearer to record what they are seeing.
UK teaching surgeon Dr Shafi Ahmed pulled the stunt to help teach his students, and has since posted the full video online. The routine hernia repair procedure took place at the London Independent Hospital.
While clips were live streamed to students over Snapchat, the full surgery has been posted to YouTube.
The glasses only record footage for ten seconds at a time, so Dr Ahmed had an assistant repress the record button when each clip cut out.
The young male patient whose operation was featured in the video wishes to remain anonymous, but is recovering well from the surgery
