KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN Maoist Centre on Friday decided to finalise candidates for the May 14 local level elections by April 22.
The party’s Central Office meeting also passed the slogan “Maoist Centre’s gift: Singha Durbar at towns and villages” for the electioneering.
Meanwhile, the meeting also decided to organise election-centric mass meetings at 744 local bodies at 1 pm on April 22 followed by door-to-door campaigns throughout the nation, according to a statement issued by the party’s Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s Secretariat.
Meanwhile, the meeting appealed to the disgruntled Madhes-centric parties to help end the political impasse through dialogues and understanding, and contest in the polls.
The government was also urged to create conducive environment for the agitating parties to contest in the elections by holding regular meetings with them.
The meeting was held at Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
