The Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha has begun an internal discussion to decide on their official stand regarding the new constitution amendment proposal registered at the Parliament by the government.

The meeting of the Madhesi Morcha leaders that is underway at Bijulibazar-based Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party office will decide on the official stand on new 11-point proposal that seeks to address the boundary row through a federal commission.

The Morcha, that has been demanding amendment of the constitution prior to the local level election, is likely to seek the government’s assurance in passing the amendment proposal at the parliament.

Sadbhawana Party General Secretary Manish Kumar Suman said the government should assure Morcha that the amendment will be endorsed by the House adding that the new amendment proposal is incomplete.



Madhesi Morcha and the main opposition party CPN-UML are likely to oppose the amendment proposal that, the government says, was prepared in consensus.
